Business Continuity

In today’s competitive business environment one cannot afford to be “disconnected”. Disconnected from your eMail, Disconnected from your fax, Disconnected from your phone lines, Disconnected from your accounting system etc. What happens to your business if your office burns down or the cables in your area gets stolen ?

Netlogix has developed two product ranges for the small to medium sized business that can solve the above scenarios:

Disaster +

The Disaster+ product is, as the name indicates, designed to provide the customer with a haven when major disaster strikes. In the event that your offices become unserviceable you will have the option of making use of the Netlogix DR (disaster recovery) centre as a base to work from until such time as your offices have been restored to functioning level. The DR centre has desks and chairs, phones, faxes, computers, printers, servers, boardroom facilities etc.

The product is sold as an “insurance policy” type product and is priced on a per seat basis. You have the option of specifying a host of products and services that you will need available in the event of a disaster.

A simple example of a RD scenario would be as follows : You realise that your offices have burnt down and that your company has nowhere to go. You contact the DR centre and register a disaster. The DR centre arranges for your phone and fax lines to be transferred to the DR centre. The DR centre boots up the servers you have on standby and restore the latest backup of your data you have available. Your eMail gets routed to the DR centre, your staff arrives at the DR centre and the rest of the world does not even know you have a disaster.

MailOn

Full scale disasters as mentioned above, as rare as they may seem should be provided for, but the less rare disaster companies face is the one of loss of connectivity. This is more common and can be very damaging to a company. In the event of i.e. the ADSL network going down, or cables that gets stolen or damaged, a company can end up being disconnected from the world for a few days.

The MailOn product was designed for just such an event. It is also an “Insurance Policy” based product and basically consist of Postini mail security and web based mail. In the event that the “world” looses connection with your mail server, one has the option with the Postini mail security system to spool you mail for a period of time and then re-route it to another server. Netlogix will route your mail to a web based mail server and provide webmail access to your company for the period it takes to recover the connectivity. This way users have the option to access their incoming mail via a 3G card, or something similar, until connectivity has been restored.
